You are eligible to participate if you:

  • Are pregnant with only one baby (we are unable to enroll women carrying twins or other multiple pregnancies at this time)
  • Are 13 years-of-age or older
  • Self-identify as Black/African/African-American or Hispanic/Latina
  • Are English and/or Spanish speaking
  • Are less than 27 weeks gestation/pregnant based on an ultrasound
  • Live, work, or receive care in San Francisco, Contra Costa, or Alameda County*
  • Are willing to participate in the survey component of the study at all prenatal and postnatal time points (11 to 14,15 to 20 weeks of gestation (if identified prior or during this time point), 24 to 26, and 30 to 32 weeks of gestation as well as 5 to 6 weeks and 6 months after delivery).

You are not eligible to participate if:

  • You are a surrogate mother (a person who acts in the place of another person's biological mother)
  • Your pregnancy is a result of assisted reproductive technology (in vitro fertilization, insemination)
  • If you’ve been treated in the past year for:
    • Bi-polar disorder
    • Psychosis

 

Compensation

Woman who participate will receive up to $170 in compensation for their time. Women receive $20 in compensation at each prenatal visit (up to four total) and $30 in compensation at each postnatal visit (up to two total). Compensation requires completion of survey data.

Timepoint 1:

11 - 14 weeks pregnant (plus 6 days)

30 - 32 weeks pregnant (plus 6 days)
